The American Alsatian is a rare breed of dog founded in the USA as a large breed lap dog. They are gentle and quiet, calm and loving. They are not working dogs and do not have high drive. They are intelligent and watchful of their masters. Their calm nature and quick ability to learn your rules creates an excellent service dog.
That being said, some have a tendency to be uninterested and/or shy of others outside of their family, so for those few who exhibit this trait, good socializing gets them over their weakness. They are gentle and loving to both humans and other animals. They do not bark, dig, or jump excessively. They love to be with their owners as much as possible, but do not wreck your home when you are away. They are content to wait for your return. It may sound unbelievable, but with 22 years of selective breeding for health and personality, we owners tell the truth about them.
